just a quick thanks. i couldn't figure out where the replay gain settings were. i had used foobar to something classical (i forget what) and when i played it, it was too loud. i did a google search, came here and found out exactly what i wanted to know. a little after you wrote it, but that's part of the coolness, huh?

I wrote a bootable 2GB flash drive image, *including* its partition table on top of my 120GB Windows/Linux hard drive... argggh.

Fortunately I had a Kubuntu LiveCD lying around, so I booted it and got online to look for help. (Everyone should burn LiveCDs, they're fun and essential in an emergency.) Your post is the first thing that Google found that wasn't either yet another guide to creating a recovery CD (that contains no useful information about actual recovery), or a site that pretends to help with disk recovery but is actually trying to sell something. Thanks!

TestDisk's basic Analyze found my Linux partitions, and its Deep analyze found evidence of my original NTFS partition. Fantastic software.

I had to change my host name, and I followed these instructions. Everything works ok (sysctl kernel.hostname give the new hostname) but the cron which is trying to send emails to the old hostname and I get a lot of email notifications. How do cron access for hostname (I do not see this in man pages)?
I've checked for any env. variables and there is nothing what contains my old hostname. I also made grep -r oldhostname in \etc directory (a desperaccy act) and I do not find my old hostname.

Thanks for any help.

Well, to be honest I can only imagine what you are talking about. But not enough so that I can rephrase your suggestion.

By the why I'm not actually running this blog myself but rather use it on wordpress.com so you might want to help them fix their problem as you seam to know more than me what you are trying to point out.

Cheers.

mike, that's the "white screen of death" I'm afraid, saying there is something wrong with your installation of drupal. You might want to search for "white screen of death drupal log out" with your favorite search engine of choice. Good luck!

Is there a way to STOP redirection upon login?

With drupal 6.11, upon login users are directed away from their current page to the profile page. I liked the old behaviour of staying on the same page.

wow, when I wrote less then sign, "tab", greater then sign, your page also removed it. Looks like bad practice for preventing SQL injections. I agree you should block them but it can be done without editing user content.

Your page translates single quotes into back ticks which means neither command will work if you copy and paste it but you can copy it and change the items that look like single quotes to single quotes and remember, cut -d'', tab is ctrl+v+i

Well for sed you can do:
dpkg -l | grep ^ii | sed -e 's/^ii\ *\([^ ]*\).*/\1/'

you can also use:
dpkg --get-selections | grep -v ' deinstall$' | cut -d' ' -f1

The section between the single quotes on the cut command is a tab which you can make in bash by using ctrl+v+i

I tried this and exported from Outlook imported into Google and linked Thunderbird/Lightning to Google and it works fine - the only difference being in Google select the settings on the left choose your calendar then scroll to the the bottom of the screen click in the ICAL icon next to Private Address and paste this into the Lightning calendar location.
